AUTHOR – Raghuram Rajan

About Raghuram G. Rajan – Raghuram G. Rajan is a top class Indian economist. Raghuram Govind Rajan is a Eric J. Gleacher Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He is also Ex-Reserve Bank of India Governer (23rd). He is also a visiting professor for the World Bank, Federal Reserve Board, and Swedish Parliamentary Commission. He has also served as the president of the American Finance Association and was the chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Raghuram G. Rajan is ex-RBI Governer who took charges of RBI in back September 2013. In sep 2013 when Raghuram G. Rajan was appointed as RBI Governer rupees rate was decreasing rapidly against dollars, Ruppes inflation was high , India’s exchange reserves were falling and India had a large current account deficit.

I do what I do is one of the most anticipated book of the year and every Indian should read this book. This book ” I Do What I Do” is coming out from an Ex-RBI governer and that too who just left behind few days from the day of Demonitization.

Raghuram Rajan is one the sensational RBI governors India has seen. His tenure as the RBI governor was not a cake walk. He took over the highest seat in Indian economy among the chaos of rising inflation and weakening Indian rupee. His measures have won praise as well as criticism among the economist as well as general public. Above all Raghuram Rajan is one the better RBI governors ever.

In his book ‘I do what I do’ he speaks about everything that concerns his decision making during his tenure. It is one of the better books to learn about economy, especially for economic students. He has detailed few technical terms related economics. He tried his best to make it clear to the general readers as well.

‘I do what I do’ has ample of things to learn. If you are new to economy related books you might find it a bit alien, but once you understand the concepts it’s a thought conquering book. Reading with little breaks will tingle the thoughts on economy for sure.

Rajan’s commentary and speeches in I Do What I Do convey what it was like to be at the helm of the central bank in those turbulent but exciting times. Whether on dosanomics or on debt relief, Rajan explains economic concepts in a readily accessible way. Equally, he addresses key issues that are not in any banking manual but essential to growth: the need for tolerance and respect to assure India’s economic progress, for instance, or the connection between political freedom and prosperity.

I Do What I Do offers a front-row view into the thinking of one of the world’s most respected economists, one whose commitment to India’s progress shines through in the essays and speeches here. It also brings home what every RBI Governor discovers for himself when he sits down at his desk on the 18th floor: the rupee stops here. Right here!

It’s a must read book for economic students as the book deals with the present day economy. Mr.Rajan has also detailed about his team’s hard work during his tenure which includes Mr.Urjit Patel (Present RBI governor), Mr.Modi’s economic reforms and its effects as well.

I would not say more about the book but I will say that this is a must read book for every Indian because you must know that answer that book came from EX-RBI Governor who left just few days before demonitization
